Did I stitch in 2011 ?

Hi my ( lost ? ) fellow stitchers.

First I want to wish you a happy New Year. I haven't blogged in a long long time and I'm hoping to go back to ( maybe) daily blogging in 2012 ... We'll see if I can do it.

I'm sure you're wondering what I stitched in 2011 so here are some pictures ( I got lots of computer problems lately so I lost some pictu

res and took those from my facebook albums.) :

I started the year by stitching a Lanarte ( what else, right? )

Nesting box with pink roses:

After that I completed the kit I had showed you in a previous ( old ) post:

Friendship grow by Sunset. I know there were a lot of green BUT I really enjoyed stitching that one. It's really beautiful.
Then I decided to get crazy but I didn't know how crazy it would be because it took me 6 months to complete this Lanarte kit.

Summer bouquet stitched on the fabric from the kit.

After I completed my insane project ( that was is secret name !!! ) I finished my on the go project ( mainly because I was tired of big projects and I didn't know what to stitch next.)

Vera the mouse by Lanarte stitched on a solo by Silkweaver.

Of course, I finished it quickly so I chose another small kit to feed my stitching craving:

Hideaway by Sue Hillis ( Heritage stitchcraft) stitched on the fabric from the kit.

I finished it fast and I decided to stitch another Lanarte but I was not ready for a big project yet so I chose this small Lanarte kit.

Lanarte 34231 stitched on the fabric from the kit.

And then I fell in love !!!!!!! I saw the picture on the cover of a magazine and I had to get it AND stitch it fast !!! lol You may remember I have a weakness for the Somebuuny to love characters and that one was perfect. I did change the colors for the hat, gloves and boots to make them more chritsmassy and it totally worked !!! It looks better than the original design !!! I was so afraid I'll mess it up but I'm pretty proud of myself! My first attempt at a color conversion did work !

Making friend by DMC for the World of cross stitching.
I didn't manage to finish my current WIP before Christmas ( mainly because I had lots of down moments during Chritsmas ) so it will become my first finish of 2012. I'm already thinking of my next one and don't be surrprised of I go back to a Lanarte ( what else ? !!! )

I didn't stitch a lot during 2011 but my insane did take most of my time ... So what did you stitch?

Life - part 2

Thanks for your nice comments about my sister in law. Right now, she's in the hospital where they are going to do more testing. In my opinion, they should have admitted her in the begining instead of making her travel two hours each way, knowing that she can't really walk ... One guess is that she could loose some fluids from her brain but again, I don't have details and we don't know if it is really that ... I also thought it could be MS but I don't know if she got tested for that ... Chuy still worries a lot and gets lots of nightmares ... One day in Fort Worth, he got robbed at gun point and since that time, he gets nightmares when something worries him (usually in his dreams, people kill him or try to do so ... )

Earlier this week, I got another scare with Pierre: I discoverd some small bruises on his lower legs. Of course, my mind played its little scary movie right away ... I panicked , thought about what it could be, and what if ... You know the what if his cancer comes back ... In the morning, I decided to wait and see in the evening how were the bruises. I tried to convince my little brain that he eats well and doesn't complain about any legs pain. The bruises had dimished a litlle bit later that day so I decided to wait more. I think teenagers love to push each others and maybe he got bruises that way. Anyway, after five years, my fears are still here, they hide in a little corner of my mind and they are always very happy to surface when I don't expect it ... Hope one day I could stop worrying AND panicking.

Have you seen the new Lanarte fall collection? You know I'm a big fan, right? I was waiting for their new collection to come out and got very disapointed: no Marjolein Bastin this time ... I am now wondering if they still work with her ... I only like this design that would look great on a hand dye fabric !!!
Wanna see my Pansy? Here she is !!! The skirt takes forever but I'm sure the result is going to be great.
And today, I have a special thought for the 9/11 victims and the people who tried to save them and are now dying from the bad stuffs they breathed that day and the next ones ...

I've been a bad bad girl

No, don't worry about it, I didn't throw my fuchsia out the window (with my scale as Jean suggested it !!! If you haven't read Jean comment yesterday, you sure missed something ) NO, I started something new It's not my fault ... See, yesterday, I got my FOTM from Silkweaver and I got this gorgous pink opalescent fabric It was perfect for the kitty floral heart kit by DMC I got in january for Emma. It's a small one ( 8"X8" or 20 X20 cm) so it's perfect for a break !!! I think I need (no I deserve !!!) a break before the breakdown arrives See, I've been stitching the Fuchsia for three months now ...
And here is my first picture ( I told you it's a small one ) :

Now, I need to tell you an exciting news: Lanarte has his new spring collection !!! You can see some new Lanarte kits here and here . I like that one
and I totally fell in love with this Marjolein Bastin kit (I think they already got one like that but I was never able to buy one on Ebay ; they always sold for a lot of money ... ) :
Thanks to all who tried to save my fuchsias !!! Back to stitching now (what? who knows............................... )

The story of a boy

This is the story of a boy who had a difficult start in life

but he was a fighter and we thought it was all over even though we had a lot of worries for him. Here he was with Emma during the summer of 2003.
Then on november 11 th of the same year, our life crashed down: Pierre's life was in jeopardy. This time it was leukemia ... And the treatment started. The oncologist told us treatment always lasted for at least 2 years Soon after, Pierre's hair started to fall down but even though I had taken him to the hair dresser, I didn't realize he looks funny with some hair left on his head ... My skinny boy was not skinny anymore: he had big cheeks, a double chin and a swollen body.
After the first round of chimio, hair started to grow again but we knew it was going to fall again after the second round of chimio. It may seem silly to think of hair in these kind of moments but falling hair is the most visible sign of the illness.
After that, his hair all fell out and I had a bald 7 years old with no eye lashes, no eye browns ... Hat was now necessary to go out but sometimes he didn't want one and we were going out without. Of course, people were starring but he didn't care too much.

I like this picture: still the same without hair . It was a happy time during this hard time: Chuy has came back from the US. When a child has cancer, you don't know at first if you will take pictures and then you come to the conclusion that it is an event that will always be a part of your life.
In august, something was starting to come back: yep, the hair First we started to notice something different in Pierre: the eyes lashes grew first. It was the first sign, my boy was going to look like himself again. Admire his perfect skull
And here is a picture of Pierre all hairy His swelling was starting to disappear and he had lost his big cheeks. He was almost the same except that now, he has more hair that before His treatment was not over but it was lighter.
Today we have reached a milestone: he got sick five years ago. It is a long time ago but it still feels like yesterday. There are dates we can never forget ... We still don't know what the future holds for him but we can always hope for the best ....

I want to thank you all for the birthday wishes. You really warned my day . I didn't get gifts, like always, but it was nice you thought of me !!!

A stitching update: I finally started my fuchsia .... I know I'm soooooooooo weak but I couldn't stand the map anymore Of course, it is such a pleasure to stitch a Lanarte again I love it and I feel I making giant progress everyday !!! The colours are so bright! I know I didn't finish the treasure map but I promised myself to stitch on it once a day (hope I can keep my promise ... )
