Weakness in action !!!

By staurday night, I was sorting the threads out thanks to my daylight bulb ( cheaper than the whole light ). I was so exicted to start something new, something that was calling my name out loud: Stitch me !!!!!!! Stitch me !!!!!! Who I am to deny attention to such a cutie? I had already chosen my fabric: a 32 count white lugana (I chose it after brainstorming to make the right choice between a white fabric and a Silkweaver fabric in the blues. I think a white fabric will look more like the picture I love. I quickly made my working copy and started to stitch ... Felt like paradise Before going to bed, I even proudly showed my first stitches to Chuy. He asked "what's that?" "What do you mean : what's that? Isn't it obvious?"
Sunday afternoon, I happily took my fabric to keep stitching on my beautiful snowman, stitched one full color, got ready for the next one when it hit me while I checked the color code : I was supoposed to stitch all I stitched in the blues on one over two and I stitched it on two over two That's what excitement can do to you Took me some time to frog everything except the eyes and the nose ... I re-stitched all and even made some progress. I love it! I love it !!!!
Today, the kids went back to school and Chuy went back to work after two weeks off thanks to the bad economy ... Feel weird to be all alone ...

Disco ball alert ! Disco ball alert !!!!! You are not going to believe it but we have a saturday happy dance !!!
Yes I did finish BOoo !!!! At last !!! I know you can't retain this little tear because you know what it means, right? New project coming soon !!! Of course, I didn't stitch all the shading that didn't really show (what for?) but I did add some backstitching on the candies ... To really enjoy the true beauty of this baby, please click to enlarge. (please, disregard the spider web that doesn't look like a spider web: it got a little weird in my scanner.) Who can guess what's next?

Conversation between Chuy and I about how we always find nice people to help us out in Paris even though the parisians have the reputation to be rude people.

Chuy: " I wonder what they see in us?

Me: Pity? "

Passport story, part 2:

Pictures are always needed to renew a passport and with the new security features on the passports, they have to be a certain way, right? When we went to take his pictures, the photos came out with a dark grey background. We told the lady, the background was too dark for his passport and the lady told us it was in conformity with the law and she added that is it was not fine, she will give us the money back. So when we went home, Chuy called back the ambassady ( understand consulate ) where he's been told again he needed a white background! So he called another picture place and the guy asked: is it for an american passport? Nope, mexican but it did exist !!! So we went there and this morning, we went to the first place to try to get our money back. Of course, the guy didn't want, saying once the pictures were taken, they never give the money back. He said, the pictures are what it's needed for here and he doesn't know whay is needed for a chinese passport! Chinese? Excuse me, I'm not chinese: I'm mexican! replied Chuy !!! It's not the first time Chuy is mistaken for a chinese ... A blue eyes chinese must be pretty rare though ... Anyway, he pointed to the lady who was listenning silently and she had to admit that she had told him he could get a refund. He did get his money back !!! (and he almost didn't believe me when I told him "good luck for this fight" before he went there !!! )

For the curious minds

So you want to know what I got in the mail yesterday !!! I can't blame you : I love to lurk at people's new satsh as well !!! Here are my two new loves. I know: I'm weak! I'm weak .... And you know what is bad: they are even cuter in real !!!!!!!!! My fingers are ichting sooooooooo bad right now. I want to stitch the snowman and reindeer first!

BOoo? Well, I'm loosing all my interest in my BOoo ... boring shading that keep me away from stitching it and guilt that keep me from starting something new ... Isn't the stitcher life difficult and full of drama? Did I tell you I already check my fabrics for the snowman and reindeer?

You have been all so talkative lately that is very hard to keep up with all your blogs. My internet time is limited because the kids are still on vacations. I should be able to visit and comment on your blogs next week !

Have you noticed I got rid of my easter background? Do you like that one? I like the way the text shows well in the middle. The colors match the header that Becca made for me. Thanks again Becca!!!

Oh la la PARIS !

How was it? Caliente !!! First our 7 am train was 30 minutes late so we arrived in Paris at 9.30. Right away, we went on the hunt for the mexican ambassy. It took us 1 hour and a half and we walked a lot because we didn't exit at the right subway exit. When we finally arrived there (exhausted) at 11.00, the lady at the front desk informed us that the passport office WAS NOT THERE but at the consulate! Imagine our faces: Each time, Chuy called the ambassy, they transferred him to the passeport office but nobody EVER told him, it was a different place ... I was not a happy camper ! It was 11 already and they are only open from 9 to 12 ... Whe you know it took us 1 hour and a half to find the ambassy, you can eaily imagine the panic that took over me; especially when the lady asked: do you have an appoitment? What? Nobody said we have to take an appointment She added she didn't know if we needed one and she started to explain Chuy how to get to the consulate circling names on our subway map. Except that Chuy is totally lost in the subway so it's totally useless to explain him anything I asked the lady to explain what subway we had to take and where to exit to get another subway and I wrote down all the informations on a piece of paper. The lady looked at me like if I was a little crazy but when we book a trip for 5 persons and when you know you have only a limited time to get there, you are not exactly totally zen, calm and relax ...

So we rushed to the exit ( where we found out there was a closer subway exit than the one we took ... grrrrrrrrrr , all this walk for nothing ... ) It's incredible the amount of time that can be wasted when we don't know the places ... We finally made it at 11.30. We waited in the lobby for one hour while Chuy went to the second floor (we were not allowed there: too many? the kids?) Anyway, we took a little break but everybody was starving at this point. The kids behaved well. The people working there were not very nice and Chuy got very disppointed at his own people ...

We left at 12.30. At this point, we were not going to try to find a nice bistrot to eat but we asked for the closest Mc Donalds: we really needed FAST food !!!

When Chuy went to get a stamp they needed (and never told him to get on the phone ), Steb had a lot of fun chasing the pigeons.

Because we had to go to the consulate, we were not close to the Eiffel tower anymore and we had to make a choice: the Eiffel tower that we are planning to visit this summer or Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur. We chose the latter. Jeez, I don't think we made the smartest choice as Montmartre is very uphill and we had to walk a lot again ... Poor Chuy, he carried Steb a lot ... we were all tired when we arrived Place du tertre ... Pierre took a break drinking water in front of the many painting galeries they have ( be careful if you go there: many galleries have paintings atually made in China sold as paintings from local painters) .
Montmartre is very turistic but also charming:
Place du Tertre, where talented painters can draw your protrait:
Doesn't he look like a typical french painter? (and tired? or bored? )
My folks in front of the Sacre Coeur. (Chuy took a similar picture of the kids and I , except the Sacre Coeur has disappeared from the picture !!! )
View of Paris (I guess it's the pollution ...)
How was the weather? Ask Steb : it was warm and a little cloudy. The bad thing is we had to carry our coats.
Steb had a lot of fun chasing the pigeons:
But if they come too close they are a little scary !!!
I took advantage to snap lots of pictures while he was busy !!! (isn't it that one lovely?)
But as soon as I got caught, I got the usual treatment ... Only if you are an avid photographer like me, you can understand the drama of having a kid who hates pictures
Another view of the Sacre Coeur: isn't it beautiful? We didn't have time to visit it though.
Here is a beginning of the 20 th century subway entrance.
And here is Emma in the train!
We all had a great day after the morning drama was over. It's so nice to go away from home even though it's only for a day !!! We are lucky to live 2 hours from Paris by train so we should do that more often (even without the kids).

Stitching? I haven't touched a needle in 4 days: pretty unusual from me !!! But I got some mail today that could put my BOoo! AND my fuchsias in jeopardy ... Stay tuned !!!
