New thread.

Today, I went to a fabric store that also sell a little bit of cross stitch stuffs. You may all have heard about the new satin DMC threads. I decided to buy one, just to try It cost 1.80 euros Made in France, of course, and always cheaper everywhere else in the world Regular floss cost 1.10 euros each ($1.60) I used to get 5 for $1 at Hobby Lobby Anyway I bought a white one because I don't like tho stitch with the white coton DMC. Of course, their previous range called satin was cheaper than the new satin. I checked on the sew and so web site, and the rayon thread was £0.44 and the new satin is £0.89 . Seems like someone understood very well how to make money I need to find a cheaper store to buy those ... I also bought half a meter of a linen band to maybe stitch a snowman on it.

I stitched last night but I didn't scan my WIP. PIcture tomorrow

The question that every stitcher in the EU asks: how is it that DMC is made here, but cheaper nearly everywhere else than in the EU? :O

The satin thread sounds really nice - let us know what it's like to work with. :D

Hi Chiloe - nice to meet you, and thanks for visiting my blog :-) Yes, I sure am the Charlie Brown of Silkweaver Treat Bags, but I am an optimist who keeps on hoping I will one day get a good one. No luck yet!! So sorry to hear you also got one that was a downer. I did email them in 2005 and "complained" - I told them about the ones I saw on blogs while I got "dull" solos... they acknowledged it and made a second better pack for me (which I paid for) - it was OK, but it was also duller than the ones I had seen. I did one in 2006, which was no better, but I did not blog about it. This year I bought the smallest pack due to my experiences... got chocolate, karma and some kind of baby pink... no linens and all quite pale and washed out, nothing I plan to use. I did sell the Chocolate though - so I got some of my money back - LOL!! I haven't heard of or seen the DMC satin floss yet, so I am anxiously waiting for them to come to the US :-) If you ever need a deal on DMC, just let me know - it is often $4/1.00 here and I will happily be a floss fairy for you!

The satin thread sounds interesting. Let us know how you get on with it. We pay a lot here in the UK for DMC too. A regular skein costs 60p at my LNS so I only buy from there if I am desperate.

The MUCH higher price for DMC here in Europe just drives me crazy! When I was last in the US visiting friends and family, I bought the full set of DMC there just to make sure I wouldn't have to buy any more here at 5 times the cost!!
