A year in review: 2009

Happy new year to all my readers and followers! It's that time of the year when we look back to see what we accomplished in a whole year:

In January, a Lanarte birdie to make Christmas last longer.
In febuary, I stitched a Floral Hello Kitty by DMC
In febuary/march, I was itchy to stitch a Christmas design: good girl and boys by JCA.
In april, I stitched my first Madame la fée design: BOo!
In may, Dimensions released a snowman that called my name as soon as I saw it !!!
From june to august, I was busy stitching a cute ssquirrel from Lanarte.
In october, I decided it was time to finish my Fuchsias in watercolor ( after it was left out for 8 months ... )
Then, in november, I felt like stitching a Christmas design again and I choose this banner by Dimensions ( I really love it !!)
And finally, I finished the year by stitching those birdhouses by Lanarte !
But if you follow my blog, you may remember these two beautiful pieces:

Sweet Pea by Nora Corbett
and Pansy by Nora Corbett.
I was a little chicken and didn't finish them because I have never beaded and I'm afraid to make some mistakes ...

I'm pretty happy with all I stitched this year !!! What about you?

wauw, those all look wonderfull, you've had a busy year !

beading is not that difficult.
you just take a thread in the same color as the background, of the same color as the stitches you want to attatch the beads on.
bring you needle up, put the bead on,then you make half a cross stitch, and go on to the next.

just try it, and if you do not like it you can still take it out.

come on girl, you can do it !

You had so many lovely finishes! I wish I had accomplished at least half of that last year.

I was afraid to bead as well, my first beading experience was Poppy from Mirabilia. I actually found out that I loved it! I use invisible thread for my beading. That way I don't have to change thread colors.

I love all your finished pieces. You do wonderful work. I too just bought a cross stitch kit with beading, (my first) and I am hesitant to start the project.

Your finishes are all very beautiful.
As for the beading, if you're very nervous just get a piece of scrap linen and sew a few to get comfortable. Just be sure that your beads are in a spill-proof container (I can't stress this enough!) and that you have a proper beading needle. It's fun once you get the hang of it.
Bonne chance!

Great finishes for the year! Are they all framed or finished in a way to be on display now???? That's the real trick. Don't be afraid to bead, get a Tacky Bob, so the beads won't get away and buy some Nymo clear thread. Use that for ALL the beads and you never have to switch threads! I like to bead using the full cross, they just seem to lay better and more secure that way. Go have fun!

You have done so much work! I'm envious and impressed.

I say go for it with the beading. Maybe practice on some spare fabric if you are a little nervous?

That's awesome Chiloe!

You shouldn't be afraid of beading. It's really very easy. Just time consuming. And did I mention frustrating? ;o)

Hi, I am a fellow cross-stitcher and saw your floral hello kitty by DMC, which is beautiful by the way. May I ask where you got the kit for that or where I could get the pattern. My 7 year-old niece loves Hello Kitty and I've been searching for patterns for it to make her something for room and this particular pattern would be perfect. I've been to the DMC website but they won't let you buy it. So any help you could give would be way more than appreciated.
Also, great pieces. Keep up the good work. I have a cross-stitching blog as well. http://nitzascrossstitch.blogspot.com/
Thanks in advance for your help.
